About Me: Big things have
                      small beginnings

Lindy Elder Graphic Designer

The St. Louis Arch is as tall as it is wide. It took 590 days to construct and the workers were hundreds of feet in the air with no harnesses or safety nets.

YOUR PROJECT WILL TAKE LESS TIME

                              AND BE LESS SCARY.

But why am I talking about the gateway to the west?......

Well, that's where it all started, where I started. St. Louis, Missouri represents my childhood and the arch is the foundation of my design make up. Growing up near the Mississippi river, you could see its gleaming steel presence in the distance. It brought a sense of comfort, strength, hope and the possibilities of what's next to come.

It also can transport you,

letting you go back and forward...

and through.

An arch can move you through to a conclusion, a step, a process. And design is all about the process in finding a solution to a problem.

When they built the STL arch over 60 years ago, there was no guarantee it would actually work. Carefully, they constructed each leg with the intention of meeting in the middle, but if they were off in their measurements, even by a little, they would not have been able to join at the top.

There is power in the details. Every project has details, elements, information that has to be understood....a foundation, a starting point.

My starting point was in Missouri. I grew up in the 80s & 90s where bright visuals, colorful shapes and textures screamed for your attention. I remember having this amazing cosmetic case that looked like a tackle box. It was bright and bold in swatches of aqua and pink. It was loud. There was a lot of pink in my childhood...from the many colors of barbie shoes to the silky shades of pony manes. Vibrant colors dominated. There were playful squares of Rubik's cubes, striking graphics on pinball machines and the juicy green of a single safety lollipop. I've always been drawn to retro bright styles. In my design career, I try to explore this nostalgia in my work and continue to surround myself with bold imagery to insight the senses.

I no longer live near the arch, nor in Missouri. About 15 years ago, I headed south and continued my design journey at many different companies, including one that revolutionized the textile industry through on-demand digital print technology. With design by my side, my interests in digital printing flourished as I found myself loving the PROCESS from design all the way to the printed product. That cohesiveness of how it all came together in the end excited me, like full circle, like 2 sides coming together, like the completion of a project, a solution.

The STL arch is still standing today. When it was built, many people didn't think it would even stand and now it has long stood the test of time.

As I continue designing my world, I stand with that same strength of the arch inside me....that resilience, and I will do the same for your design project. I will help deliver a unique message so your brand identity becomes more recognizable and memorable to your consumers and....it will shine in the sun on the horizon.
